Doctor /
As a healthcare humanitarian with expertise in family planning and abortion care, I’ve witnessed firsthand the barriers so many women face in accessing reproductive care. Now my work combines innovation, research, and advocacy to go beyond clinical care and reshape the systems that shape our lives
02
Mystic /
I have a strong belief in mysticism, manifestation, and the spiritual arts. As a South Asian, first-generation Canadian immigrant, I was raised with deep roots in Sikhism, Ayurvedic principles, community, and trusting intuition. Today, I integrate cutting-edge western medical expertise with eastern ancient practices like Kundalini breathwork and Vinyasa yoga, bringing together science and spirit as a way to care and connect.

Fighter /
From remote communities in Canada, to Northern Nigeria during jihadist insurgencies, to Yemen during the COVID19 pandemic, to providing harm-reduction digital solutions to avert unsafe abortions in Venezuela, I fight for global reproductive rights.

Builder /
As the co-founder of a tech not for profit and BIPOC team, I don’t just build tools for innovation, I build tools for change. At Vitala Global, we co-create holistic, localized solutions that return power to women, girls, and gender-diverse people making decisions about abortion, miscarriage, and contraception. Our digital companion, Aya Contigo, has supported over 26,000+ through some of their most vulnerable times.

Explorer /
From chasing waves with my husband while traveling in our caravan, sharing chai, laughter, and stories with Yemeni midwives, dancing and working side by side with Northern Nigerian midwives to climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, I’m always seeking truth and adventure in other cultures.

Lover /
Love truly knows no borders. Though I was raised in a strict traditional Indian family, I fell in love and married a Spanish man. Now living a fusion of cultures, languages, and lands that feel uniquely and spiritually our own, we’re constantly reminded that love can bridge both distances and differences.
I’ve worked with the WHO’s Preventing Unsafe Abortion Unit, been named one of Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful, Women and won an SXSW -South by South West- Innovation Award. I’ve devoted my career to being a women’s health advocate, while navigating red tape, confronting doubters, and being told to conform to expectations.
Life isn’t about boxes, labels, or binaries. All dimensions can coexist. The real work is in weaving them together and having the guts to take that first step, out of the box and into your true self. That’s where change begins. That’s where your power awaits.
Dr. Roopan is a heart-centered leader bridging the worlds of science & technology with mysticism & well-being.
